Ethiopia Will Prosper and Reclaim Its Rightful Place: PM Abiy

Addis Ababa, October 25, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia will achieve its prosperity journey and reclaim its rightful place, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) said.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) presided over discussions with members of the Council of Ministers at the Koysha Hydroelectric Dam Project, focusing on the assessment of macroeconomic performance in the first 100 days of the 2018 E.C. (2025/26) fiscal year.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister said that one of the tasks that has been given due attention since his government came to power has been to properly understand Ethiopia’s countless blessings and natural endowments.

He emphasized that understanding the country’s capabilities and potential plays a key role in nation-building, adding that many initiatives have been undertaken in recent years to reveal Ethiopia’s true potential.

As examples, he cited the Chebera Churchura National Park and the Koysha Hydroelectric Dam Project, both of which have demonstrated the country’s natural wealth and capacity to deliver large-scale development outcomes.

The Prime Minister stated that a person who knows and feels proud of their country will work harder and see each day as an opportunity to contribute to its transformation.

Reflecting on the challenges Ethiopia has faced in recent years, he said those hardships have only made the nation stronger and more determined to achieve its goals.

“There is no doubt that Ethiopia will prosper and occupy the place it deserves,” the Prime Minister affirmed, underscoring that realizing this vision requires the collective effort and hard work of all citizens.

He further noted that if sustained, the results achieved in the first three months of the current fiscal year—some of which exceeded expectations—can lay the foundation for a transformative four years ahead, in which fundamental issues that determine Ethiopia’s economic power transition will be addressed.

Prime Minister Abiy also called for continued efforts and enhanced capacity to consolidate the results already achieved, affirming his confidence that the time is not far for Ethiopians to witness the fruits of their hard work in the generations to come.
