Ethiopian Airlines Hosts U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, January 28, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Airlines today hosted the United States Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, at its headquarters in Addis Ababa for discussions with Group Chief Executive Officer Mesfin Tasew and the airline’s executive management.
The engagement focused on strengthening cooperation between Ethiopian Airlines and the United States, advancing aviation development, and exploring future opportunities for collaboration, the airline said.
During the meeting, the airline’s group CEO Mr. Mesfin Tasew and Deputy Secretary Landau discussed ways to enhance partnerships in the aviation sector and support mutual development initiatives, underscoring the importance of continued dialogue between the airline and U.S. government officials.
The U.S. Deputy Secretary of State is in Ethiopia for a working visit. During his stay, he met with various officials, including a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, discussions with AU Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, and talks with Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister Gedion Timotheos.
He also visited the Ethiopian Air Force’s 90th Anniversary Exhibition and the Black Lion Airshow in Bishoftu town at the headquarters of the Air Force.
