Ethiopian Defense Ministry’s Hurso Training School Graduates New Generation of Officers

Addis Ababa, September 21, 2025 (FMC) – The Hurso Candidate Officers Training School of the Ethiopian Ministry of Defense has marked another milestone today with the graduation of a new cohort of candidate officers.

Lieutenant Colonel Gemechu Assefa, Head of Psychological Development and Public Relations at the school, told ENA that the graduates are celebrated as heroes who have already demonstrated valor in safeguarding Ethiopia’s sovereignty across multiple battlefields.

He explained that the candidates have completed rigorous military leadership and specialized skills training, equipping them with advanced capabilities to serve the nation with greater competence and courage.

The graduation ceremony was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Defense, high-ranking military leaders, officers, and the families of the graduates, who gathered to honor their achievement.

Established four decades ago, the Hurso Candidate Officers Training School is recognized as a premier institution that has consistently produced officers who have defended the country’s sovereignty while contributing to the peace and security of its citizens.
