NBE Sets Average Dollar Rate at Birr 154.87 in Latest Forex Auction

Addis Ababa, January 6, 2026 (FMC) – The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) today announced the results of its 14th foreign exchange auction conducted today.

The central bank reported that the weighted average exchange rate of all successful bids reached Birr 154.8729 per US dollar, with 32 commercial banks winning foreign currency allocations under the auction.

The NBE also confirmed that the next foreign exchange auction will be held in two weeks, in accordance with its scheduled auction framework.
