Ethiopia’s Green Legacy a beacon of environmental and national renewal – PP VP

Addis Ababa, July 31, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Green Legacy Initiative (GLI) is serving as a beacon of environmental restoration and national development, said Adem Farah, Vice President of the Prosperity Party (PP) and Head of the Coordination Center for Democracy Building, with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister.

Participating in the nationwide seedling campaign in Jigjiga City, Somali Region, alongside Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh, Adem Farah underscored the GLI’s far-reaching impact under this year’s theme, “Revival Through Planting.”

He praised the initiative as a transformative force—mitigating climate change, boosting agricultural productivity, enhancing food security, and creating jobs. “The Green Legacy is not only a national undertaking, it’s a global model worth emulating,” he remarked.

As part of the 2025 campaign, Ethiopia aims to plant 7.5 billion seedlings during the rainy season, including a record 700 million in a single day.

Adem lauded the growing public engagement, citing enthusiastic participation across regions—including in Beneki—and urged all citizens and institutions to take part in sustaining the momentum of this green movement.
