Ethiopia’s Ruling Prosperity Party Joins African Political Parties Summit in Ghana

Addis Ababa, August 12, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party is actively participating in the 2025 African Political Parties Summit, which officially opened yesterday at the Accra International Conference Centre in Ghana. The summit convenes political leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders from across Africa and the Caribbean to foster democratic governance and political cooperation.

Leading Ethiopia’s delegation is Adem Farah, Vice President of the Prosperity Party and Head of the Coordination Center for Democracy Building, with the rank of Deputy Prime Minister.

The opening ceremony featured welcome remarks, keynote addresses, and cultural presentations, with Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama and other African Heads of State and senior international officials in attendance.

This three-day summit, running from August 12 to 14, serves as a critical platform for dialogue and collaboration on pressing issues including regional integration, peace and security, inclusive governance, sustainable economic development, and the vital role of political parties in driving Africa’s development agenda.

Prominent participants include Ghana’s President Mahama, Vice-President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, President Carlos Vila Nova of São Tomé and Príncipe, Ethiopia’s Adem Farah, and Liberia’s Vice-President Jeremiah Koung.

Representatives from political parties, civil society, and international organizations across Africa and the Caribbean are engaging in high-level discussions, panel sessions, and networking to advance shared goals.

Organizers emphasize the summit’s importance in strengthening inter-party dialogue and continental solidarity, with Ethiopia’s active involvement underscoring its commitment to democratic progress across the continent.
