Four Killed in Fiery Plane Crash at London Southend Airport
Addis Ababa, July 14, 2025 (FMC) — A small passenger aircraft crashed in a devastating accident at London Southend Airport on Sunday afternoon, killing all four people on board, according to local authorities in Essex, England.
The twin-engine plane, operated by Zeusch Aviation, had just taken off for the Netherlands when it encountered difficulties and crashed within the airport boundary, erupting into flames. Emergency services arrived at the scene shortly after 4 p.m. local time and launched a large-scale response.
Essex Police said the victims are believed to be foreign nationals, and efforts are underway to formally identify them. Authorities pledged to treat the remains “with the utmost care and dignity.”
The airport has been closed until further notice. Nearby facilities, including a golf course and rugby club, were evacuated due to their proximity to the crash site.
The UK’s Air Accidents Investigation Branch has deployed a team to determine the cause of the crash.
London Southend Airport, located about one hour east of London, confirmed the cancellation of all flights and advised passengers to contact their airlines for further information.
