Guye Adola and Mekides Shimeles of Ethiopia claim Rotterdam Marathon titles in dominant showing

Addis Ababa, April 12, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian athletes delivered a commanding performance at the Rotterdam Marathon 2026, securing both gold and silver in the men’s race and a podium finish in the women’s category.

In the men’s race, Ethiopia’s Guye Adola won the title in 2:03:54, ahead of compatriot Tesfaye Deriba, who finished second in 2:04:15.

Belgium’s Bashir Abdi completed the podium in third place with 2:04:19.

In the women’s race, Ethiopia produced a clean sweep of the podium. Mekides Shimeles won in 2:18:56, followed by Aminet Ahmed in second place with 2:21:25, while Shitaye Eshete completed the podium in third in 2:23:22.
