Institution Building and Readiness Are Core Responsibilities of Government, PM Abiy Says

Addis Ababa, January 15, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said institution building and readiness are core responsibilities of government, noting that deliberate and far-reaching measures have been taken to strengthen Ethiopia’s finance and economic institutions.

In a social media post following the opening of the Finance Forward Ethiopia conference on Thursday, the Prime Minister said the forum brings together key public finance and financial-sector institutions to reflect on Ethiopia’s ongoing economic reform journey and the priorities ahead.

He said the conference provides an opportunity to highlight progress in fiscal management, monetary and financial sector reform, revenue administration, capital market development, investment governance, and public enterprise reform.

The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of coordination and connectivity in sustaining reform momentum and advancing Ethiopia’s broader economic transformation agenda.
