‘‘Kin Ethiopia’’ Cultural Group Ignites Cultural Diplomacy with Enthusiastic Reception in Beijing

Addis Ababa, July 22, 2025 (FMC) – The ‘Kin Ethiopia’ Cultural and Art Group has been met with a warm and enthusiastic welcome as it embarks on a high-profile week-long tour in Beijing, China, aimed at showcasing Ethiopia’s vibrant cultural revival to the world.

Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the delegation is set to captivate audiences in Beijing and other major Chinese cities with an impressive array of performances, including traditional music, eye-catching fashion and design, authentic regional costumes, dynamic circus acts, and the celebrated Ethiopian coffee ceremony.

Minister of Culture and Sports, Shewit Shanka, emphasized the vital role the group plays in promoting Ethiopia’s resurgence on the global stage. “The warm reception we have received reflects the strength of our cultural diplomacy,” she said, “Art and culture are powerful tools that deepen the historic ties between Ethiopia and China, while opening doors for future partnerships.”

The Minister expressed strong determination to leverage these cultural exchanges to further boost the national economy by fostering collaborations with international partners.

Ethiopian Ambassador to China, Tefera Derbew, welcomed the delegation personally in Beijing, applauding their role as cultural ambassadors. “*‘Kin Ethiopia’* exemplifies the spirit and richness of our heritage, serving as a bridge that strengthens diplomatic relations and mutual understanding between our nations,” he stated.

State Minister for Government Communication Service, Tesfahun Gobezai, highlighted the delegation’s critical mission to broadcast Ethiopia’s story of resurgence through the universal language of art. He added that the initiative plays a key role in cementing the strategic partnership between Ethiopia and China, ENA reported.

Representing the nation’s diverse cultural tapestry, the *‘Kin Ethiopia’ Cultural and Art Group* includes artists and performers from every region of Ethiopia, united in their goal to present the country’s rich traditions and dynamic resurgence to Chinese and international audiences.
