Leaders of Ethiopia and Djibouti Discuss Regional Security and Economic Cooperation

Addis Ababa, January 11, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Djiboutian President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh held discussions in Djibouti on Sunday focusing on geopolitical dynamics, regional peace and security, and strengthening bilateral cooperation in trade, logistics and development.

In a social media post shared after his meeting with President Guelleh, Prime Minister Abiy said the talks reaffirmed the two countries’ shared commitment to stability, economic integration and mutual prosperity.

He arrived in Djibouti earlier in the day and was warmly received by President Guelleh before the leaders convened for their discussions.
