PM Abiy Ahmed Holds Bilateral Talks with Kenyan President William Ruto Ahead of UNFSS+4

Addis Ababa, July 27, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed today held bilateral talks with the President of the Republic of Kenya, William Samoei Ruto, in Addis Ababa ahead of the Second United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS+4), which Ethiopia is co-hosting.

The discussions between the two leaders centered on strengthening Ethiopia–Kenya bilateral relations and addressing regional issues of mutual concern.

“I also received William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, for bilateral talks ahead of the Second United Nations Food Systems Summit, which Ethiopia is co-hosting,” Prime Minister Abiy wrote on his official social media page. “Our discussions focused on bilateral relations as well as regional issues of mutual interest,” he added.

The Kenyan President is among the high-level dignitaries arriving in Addis Ababa for the global food systems gathering.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Abiy held similar talks with other leaders arriving for the summit, including President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni of Italy.
