PM Abiy Ahmed welcomes Turkish President Erdoğan in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, February 17, 2026 (FMC) — President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye arrived in Addis Ababa today for an official working visit, where he was warmly received by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed at Bole International Airport.

Following the welcoming ceremony, PM Abiy highlighted the significance of the visit in reinforcing the longstanding partnership between Ethiopia and Türkiye. In a social media message, he described the exchange of visits between the two leaders as a reflection of the deep and growing bilateral cooperation.

The Prime Minister emphasized that discussions during President Erdoğan’s visit are expected to further deepen collaboration and strengthen the enduring ties between the two nations, which share historical and cultural links spanning centuries.

The Turkish President’s visit comes at a time of expanding economic, political, and cultural engagement between the two countries, including cooperation in trade, investment, development, defense, education, and people-to-people exchanges.
