PM Abiy Ahmed’s Book ‘Medemer Generation’ Translated into Urdu, Now Available in Pakistan
Addis Ababa, October 10, 2025 (FMC) — Medemer Generation, a book authored by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, has been translated into Urdu and made available to readers across Pakistan.
The translation represents a significant milestone in Ethiopia–Pakistan cultural and intellectual exchange, it was mentioned.
The translation was undertaken following an agreement between Ethiopia’s outgoing Ambassador to Pakistan, Jemal Beker, and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi.
The work was successfully carried out by the National Language Promotion Department (NLPD) of Pakistan under the leadership of its Director General, Professor Muhammad Saleem Mazhar.
Speaking at the book launch ceremony, Ambassador Jemal Beker said that making the book available in Urdu creates a valuable opportunity for political elites, scholars, and young people in Pakistan to gain a deeper understanding of the Medemer (Synergy) philosophy.
He emphasized that Urdu-speaking readers will play a crucial role in helping them grasp the main message of the book and in promoting the concept of shared prosperity that Ethiopia champions.
Ambassador Beker expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Government and people of Pakistan for this gesture, noting that the translation is a true recognition of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s visionary leadership and reflects the growing bilateral ties between the two countries.
On behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, he also stated that a translated copy of the book has been placed in the NLPD library for public access.
The Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad told Fana Media Corporation that the translated edition will be widely distributed to universities, libraries, and research institutions throughout the country.
This initiative is expected to take knowledge and experience exchange between Ethiopia and Pakistan to a new level, strengthening people-to-people connections and fostering mutual understanding.
The Embassy further noted that the translation reflects the strong diplomatic relations between the two nations and lays the foundation for further cultural, educational, and intellectual engagement.
Pakistani readers are now invited to explore Ethiopia’s foundational philosophy of Medemer, which emphasizes unity, togetherness, and intergenerational connectivity, further building bridges through literature and cultural exchange.
