PM Abiy and Russian President Vladimir Putin discuss nuclear energy, defense, and dev’t cooperation

Addis Ababa, September 25, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on a broad range of bilateral issues, including energy, agriculture, healthcare development, and defense cooperation.

According to a social kedia post shared by the Office of the Prime.Minister of Ethiopia, the discussions also focused on shared strategic interests, including the signing of agreements to jointly develop a nuclear power plant aimed at providing clean energy and supporting social utilities.

It is to be recalled that Prime.Mijister Abiy Ahmed had also a meeting with President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus and Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Mariano Grossi on the margins of the ongoing World Atomic Week conference today in Moscow.
