PM Abiy declares Digital Ethiopia to evolve from project Into a culture
Addis Ababa, September 10, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has emphasized that Ethiopia’s digital transformation will move beyond being a government project to become a defining national culture, shaping the country’s development and future.
In his message for Future Day — the fifth and final day of the 2017 Ethiopian calendar year, Pagumen — observed under the theme “Making Digital Ethiopia a Reality,” the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of learning from past challenges and dedicating effort to today’s work in order to build a better tomorrow.
PM Abiy noted that the difficulties experienced during the analog era would not be repeated in the digital era. He stressed that for Digital Ethiopia to succeed, it must involve the active engagement and attention of all citizens.
The Prime Minister outlined key priorities of the digital initiative, including streamlining trade and services, ensuring accessible information, improving the efficiency and reach of the financial system, and expanding education and health services nationwide.
Future Day concludes the five-day Pagumen observances, each dedicated to a theme reflecting Ethiopia’s values and aspirations:
