PM Abiy: Discovering, Preserving, and Building on Ethiopia’s Hidden Treasures Is Our Shared Task
Addis Ababa, October 19, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has emphasized that uncovering, nurturing, and developing Ethiopia’s natural and cultural riches is a shared national responsibility, calling on all citizens to work together in building a prosperous future rooted in the country’s abundant resources.
In a message posted on his social media pages following a three-day visit to the Bale Zone of Oromia Regional State, the Prime Minister said that “when we see through the eyes of abundance, we recognize that Ethiopia is a land of plenty and enough for all.”
He shared this message on his social media pages after concluding his visit with a high-level delegation of current and former government leaders to the Fincha Habera Waterfall — a striking site that cascades into the Weib River, which feeds the renowned Sof Omar cave system.
PM Abiy described Fincha Habera as “breathtaking,” highlighting its ecological richness and tourism potential. The area, home to the endemic Ethiopian Red Fox and diverse bird species, lies near the Rafu rock pinnacles and has recently revealed a newly discovered cave system, which he said adds to its natural significance.
The Prime Minister also noted that a new glamping site is under construction to make the area more welcoming to travelers. The project, he said, reflects ongoing efforts to enhance tourism infrastructure in a manner that promotes both preservation and access to Ethiopia’s unique natural heritage.
He further stated that the visit to Bale Zone by members of the current and former leadership “has been deeply inspiring,” as it revealed “the natural, cultural, and human wealth within our reach.” He underscored that the responsibility to protect and build upon these treasures belongs to every generation.
“Our shared task,” the Prime Minister wrote, “is to uncover, nurture, and build upon these treasures so that the next generation may carry the mantle forward.”
Reaffirming his belief in Ethiopia’s vast potential, Abiy concluded, “Ethiopia is indeed a land of abundance. Let us come together, dare to dream, and build our collective tomorrow.”
