PM Abiy: Ethiopian Gov’t remains committed to streamlined and efficient service delivery
Addis Ababa, September 10, 2025 (FMC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has reaffirmed that his government remains committed to ensuring service delivery is streamlined and efficient, following his review of the newly launched Addis Mesob One-Stop Center.
In a message posted on his official social media pages today, Abiy said: “As the current year comes to a close, we remain committed to ensuring government service delivery is streamlined and efficient.”
He highlighted the center’s expansion, noting: “The MESOB one-stop service centre is expanding beyond Federal services into regional and administrative city services.”
Referring to his visit, the Prime Minister added: “On the eve of the new year, we reviewed the newly launched Addis MESOB one-stop service centre, currently providing 107 city administration services by 13 institutions.”
Abiy emphasized the initiative’s broader significance, saying: “This reflects our unwavering commitment to enhancing service delivery as a cornerstone of good governance, ensuring citizens receive timely, transparent, and accessible services.”
He concluded his message with a forward-looking remark: “More to come in the new year. Once again, Happy Ethiopia New Year!”
The Addis Mesob Center—commonly referred to as A-MESOB—was first inaugurated by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in April 2025 to reduce bureaucratic inefficiencies. At its launch, the center brought together 40 to 41 services from 12 federal institutions under one roof. The facility has been modernized with locally developed software to enable service delivery with dignity and efficiency, while all applications undergo rigorous security screening to ensure data integrity. Institutions involved include the National ID Authority, Immigration and Citizenship Service, Ministry of Revenue, Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration, Ethiopian Investment Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ethio Telecom, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Ethio Post, and others.
By mid-June 2025, officials reported that Mesob had scaled up to provide 124 essential services through 23 institutions, with a plan to establish at least one center in each region by the end of the Ethiopian year. The platform is integrated with Ethiopia’s digital ID system, Fayda, which already has more than 15 million registered users and is designed to cut service delivery time by about 60 percent while enabling citizens to access services through a unified digital interface.
Senior government officials have described Mesob as a flagship initiative in Ethiopia’s governance reform. It was showcased during the 10th African Public Service Day in June 2025, where it was highlighted as a citizen-centered innovation combining physical service centers with online and mobile access to bring services closer to people across the country.
