PM Abiy expresses sadness over passing of Pope Francis

Addis Ababa, April 21, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) extended his condolences on the passing of Pope Francis this morning.

In a message published on his social media channels, PM Abiy stated: “I extend my deepest condolences on the passing of Pope Francis. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy of compassion, humility, and service to humanity continue to inspire generations to come.”

Earlier this morning, Vatican confirmed that Pope Francis has died at the age of 88.
