PM Abiy praises newly developed smart court system, announces plans to launch Digital 2030 Strategy

Addis Ababa, October 10, 2025 (FMC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has praised the Federal Supreme Court’s newly developed Smart Court System, highlighting its role in delivering fast, transparent, and accessible justice.

During his visit, he also announced that the government is working to launch the Digital 2030 Strategy, a government-wide initiative aimed at further enhancing service delivery through greater automation, building on the achievements of the Digital 2025 Strategy. Images shared on his official social media pages showed the Prime Minister touring the court and observing the system in action.

“Following the successful completion of the Digital 2025 Strategy, which focused on technology-driven modernization, we are working to launch the Digital 2030 Strategy to further enhance service delivery through greater automation,” PM Abiy wrote.

Recognizing that access to justice is a vital need for citizens, he added, “The Federal Supreme Court remains committed to building a judicial system that is fast, transparent, and efficient.”

During his visit, PM Abiy noted that the Smart Court System includes an automated voice-to-text transcription feature to ensure all case proceedings are recorded accurately and remain tamper-proof. The system also supports virtual hearings, enabling justice seekers to participate remotely without traveling to Addis Ababa.

He further highlighted the establishment of a Network Operations Center and an Integrated Case Management System, allowing litigants to track their cases digitally. Currently, 24 federal branches are covered under the system, and the Prime Minister expressed confidence that it will soon be expanded to regional courts, extending its benefits nationwide.

Describing the planned Digital 2030 Strategy as a milestone, PM Abiy said it represents a pivotal advancement in improving public service delivery, enhancing efficiency, transparency, and citizens’ access to justice across Ethiopia.
