PM Abiy reaffirms Ethiopia’s commitment to food systems transformation ahead of UN Summit
Addis Ababa, July 27, 2025 (FMC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has reaffirmed Ethiopia’s strong commitment to building sustainable, inclusive, and resilient food systems as the country co-hosts the Second United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS+4) in Addis Ababa.
The Prime Minister made the remarks following a meeting with United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed at his office earlier today. Their discussion focused on key global and continental priorities, particularly the urgency of transforming food systems across Africa and beyond.
PM Abiy noted that Ethiopia is advancing integrated policies and promoting climate-smart agriculture and community-driven approaches to improve food security and nutrition outcomes. He emphasized the government’s determination to lead by example in implementing solutions that address both local needs and global challenges.
The UNFSS+4 Summit is being held in Addis Ababa from July 27–29, 2025, bringing together global leaders, ministers, and stakeholders to review progress and accelerate action toward equitable and sustainable food systems.
