PM Abiy reviews the redeveloped Anbesa Garage -Jukrose -Goro Square route in the capital

Addis Ababa, June 8, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, together with Addis Ababa Mayor Adanech Abiebie, reviewed the completed Anbesa Garage -Jukrose -Goro Square corridor development earlier today.

The developed corridor includes an 8-kilometer pedestrian walkway, a 4-kilometer cycle lane, public toilets, standardized shops, and a range of modern amenities consistent with other corridor projects across the city.

This transformation brings much-needed structure and relief to an area previously known for frequent congestion.

After reviewing the redeveloped route, PM Abiy said in a social media post, “The development of the Anbesa Garage – Jukrose – Goro Square corridor has brought transformative changes to a once congested area. The addition of walkways, parking facilities, children’s playgrounds, shops, public plazas, public toilets, and designated taxi and bus bays has revitalized the neighborhood, making it more accessible, inclusive, and livable for all.”

According to him, corridor development projects across both urban and rural settings continue to introduce dignified, equitable public spaces that uplift communities. “In particular, our recent rural corridor initiatives aim to rejuvenate rural areas and improve the quality of life for their residents,’ the PM noted.

The Premier also extended his sincere appreciation to the Addis Ababa City Administration and the subcities that have mobilized resources to expand the corridor initiative into the city’s peripheral areas.

He added, “I encourage other subcities and cities across the country to keep prioritizing citizen-centered approaches as we reimagine and reconfigure urban life for the better.”
