PM Abiy Tours AI Governance Center and Investment Hubs in Azerbaijan

Addis Ababa, February 27, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, together with his high-level delegation, toured various government agencies and infrastructures in Azerbaijan, his office disclosed today.

Prime Minister Abiy travelled to Azerbaijan on 26 February 2026 for his maiden official visit to Baku, where he was received with an official welcoming ceremony by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan.

Following the state reception, the two leaders held bilateral talks and oversaw the signing of Memoranda of Understanding in various sectors, including defense.

The Prime Minister and his delegation also visited the Innovation Center of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations (ASAN), which showcased Azerbaijan’s strategic approach to scaling AI-driven governance and modernizing public services.

They toured the AI Academy, the country’s primary center for AI engineering and leadership training, according to the Office of the Prime Minister of Ethiopia.

The visit continued to the Sangachal Terminal, one of the largest oil and gas processing hubs in the region, and the Alat Free Economic Zone.

The PM Office stated that these engagements are expected to strengthen cooperation between the two nations in trade, energy, and digital transformation.
