Politics: President Taye vows 7th national election will be fair, peaceful and credible
Addis Ababa, October 6, 2025 (FMC) — The FDRE President Taye Atske-Selassie pledged that the government will ensure the 7th National Election, scheduled for next year, is fair, peaceful, democratic, and credible.
The remarks were made during the Joint Opening Ceremony of the Sixth Term of the House of People’s Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Fifth Year of the Term of the House of Federation, held this afternoon in the presence of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
On the occasion, President Taye delivered the opening speech, highlighting the federal government’s performance for the 2024/25 fiscal year and outlining priorities for the new fiscal year 2025/26 (2018 E.C.), while officially announcing that the two Houses have begun their annual work.
In his address, the President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a transparent and credible electoral process, assuring citizens that the election will be conducted with integrity.
He also called on the entire nation to actively support and participate in Ethiopia’s major transformational initiatives, emphasizing the importance of national unity in achieving the country’s developmental goals.
President Taye further urged Ethiopia’s friends and international partners to stand by the government and people as active collaborators in realizing the nation’s vision.
Concluding his remarks, the President extended his best wishes for the 2025/26 fiscal year (2018 E.C.), hoping it would be a year marked by action, progress, and success.
