President Taye Atske-Selassie Expresses Condolences on the Passing of Grand Mufti Haji Oumer Idris

Addis Ababa, October 19, 2025 (FMC) — President Taye Atske-Selassie of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has expressed his condolences on the death of Grand Mufti Haji Oumer Idris, former President of the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council.

In a message shared on his social media page, the President stated: “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Grand Mufti Haji Oumer Idris, who served as the President of the Supreme Council.”

He added that the late Grand Mufti will always be remembered for his notable contributions and extended his heartfelt sympathies to the family of Haji Oumer Idris and to all Ethiopians.
