Ramada Pay Reinstated as National Bank Updates Licensed Money Transfer Providers List

Addis Ababa, November 12, 2025 (FMC) – The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) announced on Tuesday an update to the list of licensed money transfer service providers authorized to operate in the country.

Following a thorough regulatory review, Ramada Pay (Kaah), based in Falls Church, Virginia, USA, has been reinstated after previously being suspended. The decision comes after the company successfully completed all required compliance and regulatory assessments in line with Ethiopian laws and NBE directives.

The central bank also urged other money transfer operators currently under suspension to take necessary measures to meet the country’s legal and regulatory requirements. The NBE emphasized that its efforts aim to formalize all remittance operations, ensuring that service providers operate transparently and within the law.

The public was reminded to use only licensed and authorized channels when sending money to Ethiopia. According to the NBE, engaging with formally registered service providers guarantees that funds are transferred safely and securely while complying with anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing standards.
