Reform Efforts in Ethiopia Reflect Leadership’s Commitment to Transformation: Norwegian Ambassador
Addis Ababa, May 17, 2025 (FMC) – Norwegian Ambassador to Ethiopia Stian Christensen has praised Ethiopia’s ongoing reform initiatives, describing them as clear indicators of the country’s leadership commitment and competence in driving transformation.
Ambassador Christensen expressed his intention to elevate Norway’s multifaceted cooperation with Ethiopia during his tenure. He highlighted the strong and historic ties between the two countries, emphasizing Norway’s longstanding partnership with Ethiopia.
“My ambition as Norwegian Ambassador is to continue and expand this partnership, strengthening our relations across multiple sectors,” he stated.
Ambassador Christensen told local news agency that current bilateral cooperation focuses on health, education, human and democratic rights, as well as economic and political engagement. He commended the Ethiopian government’s determination to modernize the nation.
“The Ethiopian government is very ambitious, motivated, and determined to deliver a modern Ethiopia,” he said. “In my experience working with various ministries, I have observed a high level of professionalism and commitment—from Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to ministers and officials at all levels.”
He underscored the importance of maintaining momentum in the reform process and reaffirmed Norway’s support for Ethiopia’s development goals.
