Renowned Ethiopian Artist Netsanet Workneh Laid to Rest in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, January 18, 2026 (FMC) — The funeral of renowned Ethiopian artist Netsanet Workneh was held today at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa.

The funeral was attended by senior government officials, fellow artists, family members, friends, and admirers, who gathered to pay tribute to the versatile entertainer.

Netsanet Workneh, who passed away suddenly on January 16, 2026, following a long illness, was widely recognized for his contributions to television, film, and theater. He served for many years as the host of a popular family game show broadcast on EBS Television and was celebrated for his performances in films including City Boys, Salnegrat, Yanchiw Leba 2, FBI, Mr. X, and Chombe.

In theater, Netsanet first gained public attention through the play Fresh Man, which introduced audiences to his versatility and stage presence.

He is survived by his wife and three children.
