BRICS Platform Remains Vital in Advancing Shared Development and Global Cooperation – PM Abiy

Addis Ababa, July 6, 2025 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has underscored Ethiopia’s support for the BRICS platform, describing it as a vital mechanism for advancing shared development and strengthening global cooperation.

In a message shared on his official social media pages following the opening of the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro this afternoon, the Prime Minister expressed his commitment to working alongside fellow BRICS leaders toward common goals.

“Alongside fellow BRICS leaders at this year’s summit in Rio de Janeiro,” he stated, “Together, we continue to strengthen our partnership in pursuit of a more equitable and just world.”

He concluded by emphasizing: “The BRICS platform remains vital in advancing shared development and global cooperation.”

The 17th BRICS Summit is being held under the theme “Strengthening Global South Cooperation for More Inclusive and Sustainable Governance” and brings together heads of state and government from member and partner countries for two days of high-level dialogue. Ethiopia is participating as one of the bloc’s newest members.
