Voter roll exceeds 18.5 million midway through registration period for 7th general election – NEBE
Addis Ababa, March 21, 2026 (FMC) — The National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) has announced that the number of registered voters for Ethiopia’s 7th general elections has surpassed 18.5 million, reaching 18,556,337 as of March 19, 2026.
The Board said the ongoing voter registration exercise, which is being conducted both in person and through digital platforms, has made significant progress since its launch on March 7. The process is scheduled to continue until April 6, 2026.
According to NEBE, of the total registered voters, 10,133,639 are male, while 8,422,698 are female.
The Board further noted that 187,028 election officials have been deployed nationwide to facilitate the registration process. These officials were vetted by competing political parties to ensure impartiality and safeguard the integrity of the exercise.
