Indonesia ranks second in economic growth among G20 countries
Addis Ababa, May 7, 2025 (FMC) – Indonesia’s economy expanded by 4.87 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, the second fastest among G20 countries after China (5.4 per cent), as reported by Antara News, citing Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
He said five key sectors made the main contribution to the country’s economic growth: manufacturing, trade, agriculture, construction and mining. Their combined share of the gross domestic product (GDP) stood at 63.96 per cent. The total GDP has now reached 5665.9 trillion Indonesian rupiahs (about US$341 million).
Hartarto expressed optimism about the future prospects, noting that growth may accelerate in the second quarter due to the implementation of government budget programmes, as per TV BRICS.
