National defense forces’ unwavering commitment key to GERD’s success – ENDF Chief of Staff
Addis Ababa, June 15, 2025 (FMC) — The unwavering commitment of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces (ENDF) has been instrumental in the success of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), according to ENDF Chief of Staff Field Marshal Berhanu Jula.
Field Marshal Berhanu delivered the remarks during a ceremony marking the third anniversary of the ENDF Renaissance Corps, held at the GERD site under the theme “GERD with the Renaissance Corps.”
In his address, he described the dam as a national treasure that reflects the hopes and efforts of Ethiopians from all walks of life. He emphasized that members of the national defense forces have played a crucial role not only in supporting the dam’s overall progress but also in ensuring its security from the outset.
“The army has honorably fulfilled its mission by safeguarding this strategic national project,” he stated.
Field Marshal Berhanu went on to highlight GERD as a tangible symbol of Ethiopia’s revival, assuring that the ENDF will continue to bolster its contributions to peace, stability, and development in the country.
The event was attended by several high-level officials, including Benishangul-Gumuz Regional State Chief Administrator Ashadli Hassan, GERD Project Manager Engineer Kifle Horo, and Western Command Commander Lieutenant General Mesele Meseret.
