Ethiopia, Azerbaijan explore cooperation in public service modernization

Addis Ababa, June 21, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh held a constructive meeting on Friday with Ulvi Ramiz oglu Mehdiyev, Chairman of the State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations under the President of Azerbaijan, and Ruslan Nasibov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, to discuss potential cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in public service modernization, with particular attention to Ethiopia’s recent efforts to reform and streamline civil service operations. Senior Azerbaijani officials recently visited the newly inaugurated service center at the Ministry of Social and Employment Affairs of Ethiopia (MOSEB), which has since been opened to the public.

During their visit, the Azerbaijani delegation praised Ethiopia’s initiatives as commendable and encouraging steps toward improving government service delivery.

The delegation also toured Ethiopia’s National Palace and the accompanying museum, where they expressed admiration for the country’s rich historical heritage and described the exhibits as outstanding.

This meeting marks an important step in strengthening bilateral ties between Ethiopia and Azerbaijan, particularly in advancing public sector innovations and cultural exchange.
