Another Ethiopian culture and arts troupe successfully showcases heritage at European festival
Addis Ababa, July 26, 2025 (FMC) — Continuing Ethiopia’s active cultural diplomacy efforts this week, the Mulualem Cultural Center’s Cultural and Arts Team has returned home after a successful performance at the International Europe Cultural Festival held in Türkiye.
Mr. Gebremariam Yirga, Director General of the Cultural Center, noted that the troupe played a vital role in promoting Ethiopian culture, arts, and values during their stay. He highlighted that their outstanding work earned them medals and widespread appreciation from international audiences and experts.
The festival provided a significant platform for elevating Ethiopia’s cultural heritage globally and created promising opportunities to attract more tourists to the country.
“Participation in international festivals is crucial to promoting Ethiopian culture and arts while strengthening people-to-people relations that support the growth of tourism,” Mr. Gebremariam said. He added that such efforts enhance the international competitiveness of Ethiopia’s tourism sector by expanding its appreciation in global markets.
This mission complements other ongoing cultural initiatives, including the “Kin Ethiopia” troupe’s performances in China this week, underscoring Ethiopia’s commitment to robust cultural exchange worldwide.
Ethiopia’s rich cultural heritage and abundant natural resources form the backbone of its tourism sector, which the government views as more than just an industry — it is a vital pathway to sustainable national success. According to the Amhara Regional State, home to the Mulualem Cultural Center, participation in international cultural festivals plays a crucial role in promoting Ethiopia’s craftsmanship and heritage, while fostering people-to-people connections essential for tourism growth.
Despite recent progress and ongoing large-scale infrastructure projects aimed at centralizing and developing tourism resources, Ethiopia has yet to fully harness the vast potential of its tourism sector. Continued efforts to promote the country’s unique assets on the global stage, such as through the “Kin Ethiopia” and Mulualem cultural tours, are integral to enhancing Ethiopia’s international competitiveness and attracting a growing number of visitors worldwide.
