President Taye, EU Commissioner Discuss Strengthening Cooperation on Economic Reforms and Green Development

Addis Ababa, October 10, 2025 (FMC) – Ethiopian President Taye Atske-Selassie held a productive meeting with European Union Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jozef Síkela, focusing on Ethiopia’s ongoing economic reforms and the expansion of cooperation under the EU’s Global Gateway initiative.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), President Taye stated that the discussion centered on Ethiopia’s reform agenda aimed at macroeconomic stabilization, sound fiscal policies, and inclusive growth. He also expressed appreciation for the European Union’s growing engagement through International Partnerships, particularly in renewable energy development and digital transformation.

The meeting took place as part of President Taye’s visit to Brussels for the Second Global Gateway Forum, where he has been engaging European leaders to strengthen Ethiopia–EU collaboration in trade, investment, and sustainable development.

Earlier this week, Ethiopia and the European Union signed the Global Gateway Partnership Agreement, representing a €105 million commitment from the EU to support projects in digitalization, renewable energy, agri-food value chains, health systems strengthening, and migration management.
