2025/26 fiscal year 1st quarter show macro-level achievements pointing to Ethiopia’s inevitable growth – senior officials

Addis Ababa, October 26, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s macro-level performance in the first 100 days of the 2025/26 fiscal year has demonstrated significant achievements across all sectors, indicating that the country’s growth trajectory is inevitable, senior officials said.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) visited the Koysha Hydroelectric Dam Project this week together with members of the Council of Ministers as part of assessing the nation’s macroeconomic performance during the period.

Ministers and senior officials highlighted that the first 100 days saw tangible results in agriculture, industry, services, and tourism.

The Minister of Labor and Skills, Ms. Muferihat Kamil, reported that leadership efforts are focused on identifying citizens’ skills and knowledge and turning them into national assets.

She noted that the development of Chebera Churchura National Park into a tourist destination has connected communities and generated employment opportunities.

Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Addisu Arega, said that promising achievements have been recorded in all fields.

He indicated that agriculture’s growth has begun to ripple through other sectors, creating measurable improvements in farmers’ and pastoralists’ livelihoods.

Mega projects such as the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, Welmel Irrigation Project, and the national fertilizer factory were cited as clear indicators of Ethiopia’s inevitable prosperity.

The Minister of Innovation and Technology, Mr. Belete Molla, added that several changes and progress compared to the previous year reflect the country’s successful efforts to transform natural and cultural resources into economic wealth.

He said tourism resources are expanding, and upon completion, under-construction projects will become destinations of global significance.

Officials collectively stated that the first 100-day performance confirms the creation of a new work culture, increased public sector capacity, and the growing ability to execute national priorities efficiently.

They emphasized that the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has been instrumental in recognizing Ethiopia’s potential, guiding structural transformation, and fostering innovation across sectors.
