PM Abiy Launches Rainy Season Volunteer Housing Campaign in South West Shewa
Addis Ababa, June 18, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed today launched this year’s rainy season volunteer campaign in South West Shewa Zone, Goro District, Gurura Village, Oromia Region.
The Prime Minister said the campaign is being implemented as the rainy season begins, focusing on volunteer-driven community support initiatives.
“As the rainy season arrives, the hand of kindness we extend to our people grows longer with it. Today, we officially launched this year’s rainy season volunteer campaign in South West Shewa Zone, Goro District, Gurura Village, where 20 homes will be built per our rural corridor initiative design,” he said.
He added that collective action is central to the initiative and called on citizens to take part.
“It is only when we extend a hand to one another that we lift our country together, which is why I urge every Ethiopian to join this effort,” he said.
The campaign will see the construction of 20 homes under the rural corridor initiative design, according to the Prime Minister.
