PM Abiy: Ethiopia’s Indigenous Values, Medemer Philosophy Strengthen National Unity
Addis Ababa, September 9, 2026 (FMC) — Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said Ethiopia is building its future on indigenous values and the philosophy of Medemer (synergy), which he said provide a strong foundation for national unity and collective progress.
In a message posted on his social media pages marking Pagume 4, the Day of Harmony, the Prime Minister said Ethiopia is drawing on values passed down through generations and the philosophy of Medemer to reinforce unity among its diverse peoples.
He pointed to the launch of the national dialogue, people-centred corridor developments, volunteer programs and the Green Legacy Initiative as concrete actions through which the country is translating the principle of unity into collective achievements.
According to the message, these efforts demonstrate how shared national narratives can be transformed into practical results when citizens come together around common goals.
The Prime Minister said Ethiopia’s broader ambition is to build an inclusive and economically self-reliant nation by unlocking the collective potential of its people and advancing together toward prosperity.
He concluded the message by emphasizing a vision of Ethiopia as one united nation, drawing strength from its diversity, shared values and collective pursuit of a prosperous future.
