🇪🇹 Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission Says Finalizing Preparations to Conclude Dialogue Process

Addis Ababa, April 26, 2026 (FMC) — Final preparations are underway for the National Dialogue Conference, which will mark the culmination of Ethiopia’s dialogue process, following the successful completion of the agenda-gathering phase, Chief Commissioner Professor Mesfin Araya said.

The Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission has embarked on a new chapter aimed at resolving long-standing differences in the country through inclusive dialogue and consultations, with the goal of fostering a generation that upholds the supremacy of ideas.

The Commission has so far successfully conducted an extensive agenda-gathering process, engaging community groups across all regional states and the two city administrations. It has also completed the identification of representatives who will participate in the upcoming National Dialogue Conference.

According to Chief Commissioner Mesfin Araya, the national dialogue is laying a strong foundation for lasting peace and the building of a resilient state. He noted that the process will provide an opportunity for citizens to reach consensus on key national issues and promote sustainable development and progress across social, political, and economic sectors.

Emphasizing the importance of addressing differences of opinion through constructive and civilized dialogue, the Chief Commissioner called on citizens to actively utilize the opportunity to contribute to peacebuilding and national development.

He further recalled that, during the process, Ethiopians across the country have identified and submitted key challenges affecting their respective regions and the nation as a whole to the Commission.

The Chief Commissioner also underscored that participants in the National Dialogue Conference will represent all segments of society, per a report by local newswire service ENA.

Since its establishment under Proclamation No. 1265/2021, the Ethiopian National Dialogue Commission has been undertaking a range of activities aimed at building consensus on fundamental national issues.
