Addis Ababa, September 12, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan have discussed key BRICS priorities and ways to strengthen cooperation between Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, where Ethiopia and the UAE are participating as members of the expanded grouping.
The discussions brought the two countries’ bilateral partnership into the wider context of BRICS cooperation, creating an opportunity to advance shared priorities while further strengthening Ethiopia-UAE relations.
The engagement reflects the growing importance of the Ethiopia-UAE partnership, alongside their participation in a broader multilateral platform focused on cooperation, economic development and shared interests among BRICS members.
For Ethiopia, the meeting also provides another avenue for advancing bilateral priorities with the UAE while engaging with fellow BRICS members on issues shaping economic cooperation and the evolving global order.
