Addis Ababa, April 24, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, held talks in Stockholm with Sweden’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Maria Malmer Stenergard, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding areas of cooperation.
During the discussions, the two sides exchanged views on Ethiopia–Sweden relations, as well as on regional developments in the Horn of Africa and broader international issues of mutual interest.
Mr. Gedion underscored the longstanding and historic ties between Ethiopia and Sweden, stressing the importance of further consolidating the partnership.
He also highlighted the need to scale up cooperation in trade and investment, encouraging Swedish companies to capitalize on the favorable investment climate and opportunities in Ethiopia.
For her part, Maria Malmer Stenergard reaffirmed the strong relations between the two countries and expressed Sweden’s interest in enhancing engagement with Ethiopia at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
The meeting reflects continued efforts by both countries to reinforce their partnership and explore new avenues for collaboration.
