Addis Ababa, May 13, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia has bid farewell to French President Emmanuel Macron following the successful completion of his official working visit to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
The French President was seen off this evening at Bole International Airport by Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh, concluding a day of high-level engagements in Addis Ababa.
President Macron’s visit was marked by a series of productive activities, including his reception at Bole International Airport upon arrival, a visit to the Science Museum with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, and comprehensive bilateral discussions held at the National Palace.
The two sides also presided over the exchange of key agreements aimed at strengthening cooperation in energy and digital transformation, including a €54.6 million loan for the Renewable, Integrated, Sustainable Energy and Digitalization Program, as well as a new framework and roadmap for a 150MW geothermal public-private partnership.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Truneh, the visit featured highly productive engagements and comprehensive discussions on matters of mutual interest, further deepening the bonds of friendship and partnership between Ethiopia and France.
He added that the visit has laid a solid foundation for enhanced cooperation between the two countries in the years ahead.
