Addis Ababa, July 7, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia and Brazil have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in tourism development and promoting sustainable tourism initiatives between the two countries.
The agreement was signed by Ethiopian Ambassador to Brazil Liulseged Tadesse and Brazilian Minister of Tourism Gustavo Costa Feliciano.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Liulseged said the MoU would further consolidate the long-standing friendship between Ethiopia and Brazil while expanding collaboration in the tourism sector through bilateral channels, BRICS, and other multilateral platforms.
The agreement is expected to enhance cooperation in promoting the two countries’ tourism destinations, increase tourist exchanges, and create opportunities for greater collaboration between Ethiopian and Brazilian stakeholders.
Under the framework of the MoU, the two sides agreed to strengthen the exchange of information and expertise, enhance institutional cooperation, promote tourism investment, and expand training and capacity-building initiatives.
During discussions, officials highlighted the vast tourism potential of both Ethiopia and Brazil, emphasizing the importance of closer cooperation to unlock emerging tourism development and investment opportunities.
The Ethiopian side briefed Brazilian officials on tourism as one of the country’s priority development sectors, highlighting ongoing initiatives aimed at transforming Ethiopia’s tourism industry and advancing the development of key tourist destinations.
For his part, Minister Gustavo Costa Feliciano reaffirmed Brazil’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Ethiopia in the tourism sector and jointly exploring new investment opportunities, according to information from the Ethiopian Embassy in Brazil.
