Addis Ababa, July 15, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia and the European Union have reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening and expanding cooperation across various areas of mutual interest.
Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos held talks with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas, focusing on ways to further advance the longstanding partnership between Ethiopia and the EU.
During the discussion, Foreign Minister Gedion emphasized Ethiopia’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation with the EU and expanding collaboration in areas of shared interest.
The two sides highlighted the importance of the upcoming Third Ethiopia–European Union Structured Dialogue as a key platform for advancing strategic engagement and further enhancing cooperation across sectors.
The Foreign Minister also briefed the EU High Representative on Ethiopia’s National Dialogue Conference, which commenced today at the national level, noting that the process demonstrates the country’s commitment to addressing longstanding national issues through an inclusive, transparent, and nationally led approach.
He underlined that the dialogue is aimed at fostering consensus, strengthening national unity, and promoting lasting peace.
The two sides also exchanged views on regional and global developments of mutual interest.
