Addis Ababa, September 24, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia is advancing an inclusive approach to global climate action centered on practical solutions, stronger partnerships and broader participation, President Taye Atske-Selassie said as he invited international stakeholders to work with Ethiopia in addressing the climate crisis.
Addressing the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, President Taye said Ethiopia will host the 32nd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP32) in November 2027, envisioning the gathering as a vibrant and inclusive platform for advancing tangible climate solutions.
He invited world leaders to Ethiopia, calling for broad engagement that brings together governments, the private sector and international stakeholders to translate climate ambitions into practical action.
The President emphasized the importance of partnership in confronting a climate crisis whose consequences increasingly extend across borders, affecting development, livelihoods, infrastructure and the prospects of future generations.
Ethiopia’s approach places collaboration at the center of its climate agenda, seeking to create space for countries and other international actors to share solutions, mobilize resources and develop practical responses to the challenges posed by climate change.
The President’s invitation comes as Ethiopia continues to position environmental action as an integral part of its wider development trajectory, linking climate resilience with ecosystem restoration, sustainable development and expanded opportunities for international cooperation.
He urged the international community to seize the opportunity to work together on solutions capable of delivering tangible results, reinforcing the principle that climate action requires collective responsibility as well as concrete commitments.
Ethiopia’s planned hosting of COP32 will provide a major platform for advancing this vision, bringing the country’s climate diplomacy and its call for inclusive global partnership to the center of international climate discussions.
