Addis Ababa, July 26, 2026 (FMC) — Ethiopia is set to host the first-of-its-kind 2026 African Logistics and Communication Symposium from July 27 to 31 in Addis Ababa, with representatives from 40 countries and 26 major international industry partners expected to participate.
The continental symposium is expected to serve as a platform for experience sharing, innovation and cooperation in logistics and communication.
Briefing the media ahead of the event, Director General of the Foreign Relations and Military Cooperation Directorate of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces, Major General Teshome Gemechu, said Ethiopia’s selection to host the symposium reflects its contribution to regional peace, development achievements, Addis Ababa’s rapid growth and its capacity to host major international forums.
He said the symposium will strengthen cooperation between Ethiopia and the United States and enhance experience exchange and collaboration among defence institutions across Africa.
Major General Teshome noted that logistics and communication are critical components in the success of both military and civilian missions.
He said the forum will enable participants to exchange experiences, adopt better practices and jointly seek solutions to emerging challenges in the two sectors.
He added that knowledge and experiences from partner countries will contribute to strengthening the logistics and communication capabilities of the Ethiopian National Defense Forces, while Ethiopia will also share its own experiences with partner countries, further enhancing its contribution to continental peace and security.
Meanwhile, United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) Logistics Director Brigadier General Paul Felix said the United States is pleased and honoured to jointly organize the symposium with Ethiopia.
He commended Ethiopia’s preparations and said the event will help advance logistics and communication cooperation between the United States and Africa.
He said participating countries will assess their logistics and communication capabilities, identify existing gaps and challenges, and work together to develop sustainable solutions.
Brigadier General Felix expressed confidence that the symposium will become a productive platform for cooperation, innovation and shared learning, enabling countries to build stronger networks, enhance capabilities and contribute to greater security and prosperity.
