Addis Ababa, September 22, 2026 (FMC) — A high-level Ethiopian delegation led by President Taye Atske-Selassie is participating in the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, with Ethiopia engaging in discussions on issues of national interest and priorities of the African continent.
The delegation includes Minister of Planning and Development Fitsum Assefa, Minister Adviser for East African Affairs Getachew Reda, and representatives of various Ethiopian institutions.
Ethiopia has begun its participation in the Assembly’s High-Level Week, held under the theme “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.”
During the high-level week, the Ethiopian delegation will actively engage in discussions at the General Assembly on issues concerning Ethiopia’s national interests as well as broader African interests.
Beyond the main sessions of the Assembly, Ethiopia will also take part in numerous bilateral and multilateral engagements on the margins of UNGA 81, providing an avenue to advance discussions on issues of shared interest with international partners.
