Ethiopia’s International Livestock Expos to Open New Frontiers for Investment, Technology Transfer and South-South Cooperation

Addis Ababa, October 20, 2026 (FMC) – Ethiopia will host a series of international livestock exhibitions and conferences from October 29 to 31, bringing together more than 130 international sector participants from 14 countries alongside domestic stakeholders to expand investment opportunities, strengthen business ties and promote technology and knowledge exchange.

Briefing the media today, the organizers said the event would bring together companies, investors, technology providers, experts and other stakeholders across livestock and related value chains, creating opportunities for international partnerships, market linkages and South-South cooperation.

The programme will feature the 15th Ethio Poultry Expo (ETHIOPEX), the 11th Africa Livestock Exhibition and Congress (ALEC), the 6th Aquaculture Ethiopia Expo, Apiculture Ethiopia 2026 and the third Bioenergy Trade Show. The events will take place at the Addis International Convention Center.

The organizers said the exhibitions would connect local businesses and producers with international companies offering technologies, production inputs and services across poultry, dairy, meat, fisheries, beekeeping and bioenergy.

The event is expected to facilitate business-to-business engagement, technical discussions, sector conferences and public-private consultations, helping participants explore investment prospects, exchange expertise and develop commercial partnerships.

Exhibits will cover poultry breeding and feed production, animal health, dairy and meat processing, aquaculture technologies, modern beekeeping, and the conversion of livestock waste into useful energy and other resources.

The Netherlands will host a national pavilion showcasing companies and institutions offering animal feed, dairy-processing equipment and other livestock technologies. SN, together with BRIDGE+ partners, will participate as a gold sponsor and exhibitor at ALEC.

The organizers said the exhibitions build on the previous edition, which attracted 130 organizations from 14 countries and around 4,000 visitors. They expect the 2026 programme to draw a similar international business community, including trade visitors and sector professionals seeking new partnerships and market opportunities.

The event comes as Ethiopia seeks to improve livestock productivity and strengthen the sector’s contribution to food and nutrition security, household incomes, employment and exports.

Figures cited in the briefing from the Ministry of Agriculture’s 2025/26 fiscal-year performance report indicate that the country produced more than 15.8 billion litres of milk and 11.7 billion eggs.

The organizers said closer connections between domestic producers and international firms could help address challenges across the value chain, including access to improved inputs, animal health services, processing technologies, storage, transport and markets.

By bringing together international businesses and local stakeholders, the exhibitions aim to strengthen cross-border commercial relationships, encourage investment and facilitate the transfer of technologies and expertise.

The combined programme also offers a platform for cooperation among developing economies, supporting South-South partnerships while showcasing opportunities across Ethiopia’s livestock and related industries.
