Second African Political Parties Summit Opens in Addis Ababa, Bringing Together Leaders from Across Continent

Addis Ababa, November 6, 2026 (FMC) – The Second African Political Parties Summit officially opened today in Addis Ababa, bringing together political leaders, government representatives and ministers from across the continent to strengthen political cooperation, exchange experiences and examine the role of political parties in advancing Africa’s economic transformation and sustainable development.

At the opening session, Ethiopia presented its national development experience under the Medemer philosophy, tracing its evolution from a guiding concept into a framework for national transformation and inclusive prosperity.

The presentation, themed “From Action to Transformation, From Transformation to Prosperity,” showcased Ethiopia’s development achievements and experiences under the Medemer-led administration.

The main summit follows a series of events that began yesterday, including the African Women Political Leadership Forum and the African Youth in Politics Forum, which provided platforms for discussing the contributions of women and young people to political leadership and Africa’s future.

The gathering offers political parties from across Africa an opportunity to exchange experiences and explore how political leadership can contribute to stronger institutions, economic growth and sustainable development across the continent.
