Boeing Salutes Ethiopian Airlines on 80 Years of Aviation Leadership and Enduring Global Partnership

Addis Ababa, May 23, 2026 (FMC) – Senior executives of Boeing have extended congratulatory messages to Ethiopian Airlines on its 80th anniversary, paying tribute to the national carrier’s long-standing leadership in African aviation and its enduring partnership with the global aerospace manufacturer.

In a series of messages marking the milestone, Boeing Commercial Airplanes leadership commended Ethiopian Airlines for eight decades of growth, operational excellence, and strategic expansion.

Stephanie Pope, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, conveyed the company’s congratulations, stating: “On behalf of all of us here at Boeing, congratulations Ethiopian Airlines on 80 years of aviation leadership, strategic expansion, and award-winning service.”

Ihssane Mounir, Senior Vice President of Global Supply Chain and Fabrication, also extended birthday wishes to the airline’s leadership, saying: “Mr. Mesfin and the entire Ethiopian Airline team, a very happy 80th birthday.”

Brad McMullen, Senior Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing, highlighted the airline’s continental significance: “I’m happy to celebrate this incredible milestone with you, 80 years of Ethiopian Airlines leadership in Africa.”

Mike Sinnett, Senior Vice President of Product Strategy, Product Development, and Development Programs, described the occasion as an honor: “It’s an incredible honor to be celebrating your eight decades of aviation leadership in Africa.”

Mike Fleming, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Airplane Programs, underscored the strength of the partnership between the two organizations: “I’d like to thank you for first the privilege of your business and for the partnership that you extended to us. Thank you.”

Anbesse Yitbarek, Vice President of Commercial Sales and Marketing for Africa, also joined in the congratulations, stating: “Congratulations Ethiopian Airlines on this remarkable milestone.”

Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest carrier, is marking its 80th anniversary with commemorative events reflecting its transformation from a small regional airline into a globally competitive aviation group with an extensive international network.

The airline’s longstanding partnership with Boeing has played a central role in its fleet modernization and expansion over the decades, reinforcing its position as one of the leading aviation brands on the African continent.
